I believe this move will help take fly casting to the next level. Be sure to check out the Loop articles if you are a trout angler and fly casting and fly fishing enthusiast. It is the premier magazine for those teaching fly fishing and on a journey to increase their personal skills.

The 2017 FFI Fair in Livingston

The 2017 FFI Fly Fishing Fair was held in Livingston, Montana, in the heart of Yellowstone country. The event brought together fly fishing educators, casting instructors, rod builders, and passionate anglers from across the country and around the world. It is always a gathering that recharges the spirit and reminds us why we do this work.

Bruce Richards contributed a piece on double hauling to this issue of the Loop. Bruce's writing is always precise and grounded in real mechanics, which is exactly what the publication aims to deliver. When someone of Bruce's caliber puts ideas on paper, the entire community benefits.

Why the Loop Matters

Fly fishing is hands down the best lifelong hobby—one that thrives on keen observation in beautiful places. Trout rarely inhabit ugly places. In the millennial era, where patience seems to run thinner each year, the Loop provides an educational approach to learning more about fly casting for those who wish to enrich the sport.

Football players go to the weight room in the offseason. Why not embark on learning more about fly casting by seeking lessons, gathering educational materials to read, and most importantly, actually practicing often? The Loop provides exactly that resource. It is freely available now, and I encourage every student who passes through our guide school to subscribe.
